We were delighted ,this year, to revive a tradition that has been popular in Co. Wexford for decades-the May Bush.

The tradition of decorating a whitethorn (hawthorn) or furze bush on the eve of the month of May is associated with bringing luck or protection to a household or community.

The children in the Senior classes had great fun decorating their very own hawthorn tree on April 30th and we hope that this tradition continues for many years to come here in Shielbaggan.
