Well done to our debating team of Katie, Fionn and Rory who represented the school in this year’s Primary Schools’ Debating competition. They successfully opposed the motion “Primary School pupils should be banned from owning a mobile ‘phone” against Rathangan NS in early November. It was the first time in a number of years that we  had a debating team and everyone in 4th,5th and 6th classes worked to get the team ready.

In late November, our team proposed the motion “Homework is a waste of time for primary school students” against a strong Danescastle team and we were narrowly defeated.  It was an interesting debate and the judges were impressed with both sides.

Best of luck to Danescastle in the next round of the competition.
