March 6th was a busy one in Shielbaggan as we held our Day of Action as part of our application for our Green Flag renewal. We have been working on the theme of Water during the  year and this was reflected in our Day of Action.

The older classes took part in a Water Relay, taking turns to carry 6 l of water for 6 km. There are women and children in developing countries who have to do this every day and they are not even guaranteed to get clean water.

We had lots of fun, later in the day, when we conducted a range of experiments all based on water.

We got a great write-up in the local paper the following week. We also raised enough money to buy a Trócaire gift of a water pump-everyone donated 2 euro to the Trócaire box on the day.
