Although we have been working very hard on the theme of Water for our Green-Schools Flag this year, we haven’t forgotten about the Litter and Waste theme. A group of pupils, parents and teachers met at the crossroads in Monachee on a Monday afternoon in April to pick up litter on a 5km stretch of road. It was the school’s first time to have a litter picking afternoon outside of the school grounds and we were delighted with the succes of the venture. We managed to fill 8 bags with rubbish that would otherwise spoil our countryside. Thanks to the parents for their help on the day and thanks to Wexford County Council for collecting the rubbish bags for us.
